You can also go ahead and learn how to charge your dead battery. So prepare your battery first and switch off all the electronics in your car.

Before you charge the battery, make sure to disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. It will prevent the battery from being damaged by the charger.

Use a Jumper Cable

First, make sure both cars are turned off before you charge a car battery. Then, connect the positive (red) end of the jumper cable to the positive terminal of the dead battery.

Next, connect the negative (black) end of the jumper cable to the negative terminal of the working battery. Finally, start the car with the working battery and let it run for a few minutes. The working battery will charge the dead battery, and your car should be able to start up.

Use a Battery Charger

If you can spare a few bucks, get a battery charger or ask a mechanic to charge them for you. You will need a battery charger found at most auto parts stores. Once the charger is connected, turn on the charger.

Most chargers have a built-in light that will turn on when the charger is on. Allow the battery to charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting to start your car. Once the battery is fully charged, you can reconnect the negative terminal and start your car.

Utilize a Generator

If your car battery is dead, you can also use a generator to charge it. However, it would be best to be careful when using a generator to charge a car battery.

Ensure the generator is turned off before you connect the charging cables to the battery. Once the wires are connected, you can turn on the generator.

Start with a low setting and gradually increase the power. Monitor the battery to make sure it doesn’t overheat. Once the battery is charged, you can turn off the generator and disconnect the cables.
